On 3-4 April 2018 members of the delegation of the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany (hereinafter referred to as Bundeskriminalamt) led by Mr. Peter Henzler, Vice-President of Bundeskriminalamt, visited Lithuania. In the course of the visit significant for both sides, a declaration between the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau and Bundeskriminalamt was signed intended for the enhancement of cooperation between the agencies combating serious and organized crime, paying particular attention to property crimes and vehicle thefts.

We are glad to be able to claim that cooperation with the Lithuanian police and the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau has never been declaratory and, I believe, it will never become such. All the decisions made on the highest level become real, i.e. successful joint investigations, exchange of important information and close cooperation among our officers. Competence, efficiency and professionalism of the Lithuanian officers are the values highly appreciated by us. Our reliable partner today, i.e. the Criminal Police of Lithuania, is strong, advanced, modern and united,” said Mr. Peter Henzler, Vice-President of Bundeskriminalamt.

During their stay, the representatives of Bundeskriminalamt met with Linas Pervanas, Commissioner General of the Lithuanian Police, Edvardas Šileris, Deputy Commissioner General of the Lithuanian Police, Rolandas Kiškis, Chief of the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau, Deputy Chiefs Andžejus Roginskis and Vytautas Gailiušas. Visions, guidelines and possibilities with regard to further cooperation fighting against serious and organized crime were discussed during the meetings.

Linas Pervanas, Commissioner General of the Lithuanian Police, presented Mr. Peter Henzler, Vice-President of Bundeskriminalamt, with an award – the First-degree Police Distinction Badge “Guardian Angel” – for significant contribution in the development of cooperation between the police of Germany and Lithuania.

This award is made to the person who put a lot of effort, professionalism and heart to the development and support of the cooperation between our institutions. Thanks to him, plenty of work important for the Lithuanian and German police has been carried out. I am glad to be able to make this special award to our colleague Peter Henzler personally and shake his hand. No doubt loads of meaningful work will be still completed together in the future thanks to him. I would like to emphasize that the initiatives of our German colleagues are always valued and supported by us and we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the partnership and assistance of numerous years,” said Linas Pernavas, Police Commissioner General of the Lithuanian Police making the award.
