Lithuanian Police is celebrating its 100th Anniversary

This year the Lithuanian Police is celebrating a very special Anniversary – 100 years of defending, protecting and helping the people of Lithuania and the guests of the country.

To mark this occasion, on 28-29 September the Lithuanian Police and Community Festival was held in the capital of the country. 

On this significant day the Lithuanian Police was honored by receiving greetings and participation of our closest partners and friends who are always eager to assist us in fighting common threats. Guests from Europol and the USA (FBI), the Chiefs of Police of Estonia, Latvia and Moldova, delegations from Germany, Finland and Poland expressed their congratulations by personally participating in the celebration events.



Ms. Catherine de Bolle, the Executive Director of Europol expressed her congratulations for the Lithuanian Police during the dinner, hosted by the International Police Association (IPA) Lithuanian Section. Ms. C. de Bolle  wished the Lithuanian Police to stay a modern and up to date  institution as it is now, highlighting  the great job in the implementation of community policing.

Police and Community Festival began with the Mass at Vilnius Cathedral Basilica.

Later the celebration festival was opened in the Cathedral Square by reading a greeting letter from Ms. Dalia Grybauskaitė, the President of the Republic of Lithuania.

“I am sincerely grateful for the honesty, professionalism, determination and self-sacrifice, when needed. It is to nothe that for these reasons  people trust the Lithuanian Police. I wish you an adamant strength in serving your country and may the Guardian Angel protect each and every one of you“ , was stated in the President’s letter.

Mr. Eimutis Misiūnas, the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania also congratulated the Lithuanian Police and recalled himself very proud that he had also been an officer and had taken his oath to Lithuania.

To close the official part, the Award Ceremony of the officers and the Ceremonial Oath of Cadets was accepted.

Thousands of people with families gathered to this Lithuanian Police and Community festival. Police units presented their day-to day work and held impressive performances of the Lithuanian Police Anti-Terrorist Operation Team "Aras", Lithuanian Traffic Police Service, Mounted Police and many more.
